The old two storey terrace house had a disproportionately large front outdoor terrace space which we found to be underutilised. Interestingly the client desired a bar counter space at the front of the house, creating a unique starting point for the project. We internalised the front terrace space and designed a new foyer and bar area that boasts lovely garden views. Between the foyer and living are a set of built-in feature shelves, providing a backdrop for a piano that sits in the living space. The lightness of the screens and bar counter allows direct views through the areas, making them feel like a cohesive space rather than separate rooms. Our favourite corner of the house is where the bar sits, featuring a custom made bar counter crafted by a wood artisan – aglow with light, seamlessly blending the indoors with the outdoors. The house features a muted palette of warm oak, off-whites and soft textures, creating a cosy and inviting retreat.
