Bright and flushed with natural light, a once dark and dingy interior has been transformed into a cosy home designed for a daughter-and-mom duo. Major changes were made to the floor plan, removing several existing carpentry elements and walls that made the space feel smaller than it truly was. At the heart of the home is a built-in open shelf between the dining and kitchen, serving a dual purpose of offering both separation and openness. It provides a pleasant backdrop at the dinner table while clearly delineating the two spaces. The material palette features a soft layering of textures and colors - primarily light wood, off whites and warm greys - complementing the apartment’s character. The original pink marble floor was retained, sitting beautifully in the living room and adding a unique charm to the design.
